Description

An infrequently imaged area of the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC), this is most notable for the star cluster NGC602 surrounded by the nebulosity N90 (top center). The other brighter area of nebulosity to the left is N89. This is located in what is often referred to as the 'wing' of the SMC leading to the Magellanic Bridge, a stream of neutral hydrogen linking the SMC and the LMC.
While N90 and N89 are easily seen in a 20 min exposure, the rest of the surrounding nebulosity is extremely faint.
